Who I Am:
With a background spanning forensic DNA analysis, molecular diagnostics, and lab automation, I specialize in building learning solutions for complex, regulated environments. I translate scientific, engineering, and compliance content into clear, engaging training experiences for diverse audiences, from production floor associates to engineers to lab technicians. Experienced in end-to-end program design, needs analysis, and cross-functional SME collaboration across biotech and manufacturing contexts, I'm fluent in both scientific complexity and plain English, and know when to use which.
My Approach:
Course design starts long before the first slide or block is built. I begin every project by identifying the specific actions learners need to take on the job, then work backward to understand:
what's preventing them from taking those actions,
to what extent training can resolve an obstacle, and
what learners need to know to overcome it.
The result is training that's tightly focused on performance gaps and directly applicable to the workflow, not "nice to have" information that can distract from the the overarching goal. If it doesn't help someone do their job better, it doesn't belong in the course.
Off the Clock:
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, I went to college in New Orleans, then went to work in the New Orleans Police Department crime laboratory. While waiting for the lab to be rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina, I performed battlefield forensic DNA analysis at JEFF3 (Camp Victory) in Baghdad, Iraq.
Upon returning to the US, I moved to San Francisco for law school, but found that it just couldn't compete with all the amazing things happening in Bay Area biotech. So I turned to life sciences field applications, and spent several years helping brilliant scientists implement cutting edge equipment and workflows in their laboratories.
Now I live in San Francisco with my partner and two wily rescue cats, enjoying the Bay Area's spectacular food scene and walking it off on the lovely trails.
